#16. WHERE THE 60S LIVE
Across from the big kids’ playground, there’s a half circle of benches. Makes it convenient for the musicians who gather.
Boomers, mostly guys but not all. A lot of tie-dyed shirts. They gather each week at this spot with acoustic guitars, a mandolin, a banjo, and a drum box that you sit on, or sometimes just an empty cardboard Amazon box to beat on.
The constant refrain:
“Remember this one?”
They even attract gray-haired groupies who flirt and sing along.
Everyone knows the words.
