#29. EPITAPHS

#29. EPITAPHS

I am touched by the epitaphs in the Park. Not on tombstones, but on Park benches. Small metal rectangles affixed to back slats. Paid for by those left behind to honor those already gone. In a half circle of benches on the northeast side I found these. Each with a few words that suggest so much unsaid.

• “Fly Away Jack, Fly Away Home”

• “Where Paul and Soni Fell and Stayed in Love”

• “By Our Side Forever”

• “Always in Our Hearts”

• “Your Joyful Spirit Continues to Inspire Us”

“A Place to Sit Quietly and Smell the Flowers”

• “Generous Spirit, Hearty Laugh, Best Friend”

• “Follow the Light”

• “When You Use this Bench, Know that You are Loved, Cuddled, and Cherished and      Receiving Plenty of Snuggles”

I like sitting on that bench.
