#37. A MUSIC LESSON
I heard a distant trumpet from across the Park. So, I went to find it and I learned something new.
First, It was two horns that drew me. One for each ear, I guess. A young man and a young woman sit side by side on a bench, playing while reading music from a stand. She plays a regular trumpet. He plays a horn so small my curiosity draws me to ask:
“What is that? A cornet?”
“No, a Pocket Trumpet.”
(Wha?)
“It sounds the same as a regular trumpet, but the tubing of the body is wound tighter. It’s only ten inches long.”
“Is it harder to blow?”
“A little, yeah.”
And that ends your Washington Square music lesson for the day.
